About Gede

Our Mission

Gede Foundation is a nonprofit organization established and registered as a 501 c-3 organization in Washington, DC USA in 2002 and in Nigeria in 2003.

Our mission is to promote healthy communities by restoring the individual’s right to health through education and access to services. To achieve this, the Foundation initiated the following programs:

  • Treatment and Care
  • Scholarship and Skills Acquisition for OVC (Orphans and Vulnerable Children)
  • Training
All three programs were implemented since 2003, with Training receiving strong support  for HIV training of health workers  based in the northern states of Nigeria in 2007. Funding was obtained from The Global Fund through the Society for Family Health.

The Treatment and Care program continued to serve clients who either came to the Foundation on their own or were referred by other health institutions for laboratory diagnosis and treatment. The Foundation is a government treatment site, offering free anti-retroviral drugs to clients under the National Action Committee on AIDS (NACA)/National AIDS Control and Prevention Program (NASCP). Clients who came to the Foundation’s treatment-and-care facilities availed of  medical examination, counseling, and laboratory services.

A grant from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs (FMoWA) supported 58 children in regular schools and 66 children in skills acquisition training.
