Success Stories

Mike + Philip

Mike and Philip are grateful for having the opportunity to be in school. Like so many children orphaned by AIDS, they did not know who to turn to when their parents died. They asked themselves, “Should I sell food in the markets? Should I hawk in the street?” Hawking or selling food will not earn them 200 naira ($1.68) in one week. How can they pay for their school fees?

Gede Foundation takes the worry over school fees from these young children, giving them the opportunity to learn and to take steps in ensuring a bright future for themselves. They are filled with hope and now they can dream.

One dreams of becoming a doctor, the other an electrical engineer. Their lives are not easy and comfortable, but they are focused, they are determined to finish school, and they plan to go to university one day to make their dreams come true.
